Job Description
Description and Purpose:
The Service Department plays a pivotal role in the overall success of the Company. The Diesel Technician, a key member of the team, will be responsible for executing mechanical repairs, conducting maintenance, performing overhauls, and executing rebuilds on heavy-duty trucks and related equipment.Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Diagnostic Expertise:
Inspect, test, and employ diagnostic techniques to identify malfunctions or damages in equipment. Listen to defective equipment to enhance the precision of diagnosis.Mechanical Repairs and Maintenance:
Execute a wide range of mechanical repairs, maintenance procedures, overhauls, and rebuilds on heavy-duty trucks and associated equipment. Address issues related to belts, hoses, steering systems, brakes, fuel systems, wheel bearings, and other critical areas requiring attention.Testing and Validation:
Conduct test drives of vehicles to assess overall performance. Test individual components and systems, utilizing tools such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.Advanced Equipment Usage:
Utilize electronic test equipment to pinpoint and rectify malfunctions in fuel and emissions control systems. Employ advanced tools and technology for efficient and accurate diagnosis and repair.Electronics Inspection:
Test electronic computer components to ensure proper functionality. Use technical skills to diagnose and address issues related to electronic systems within vehicles.Precision Inspection:
Disassemble units for thorough inspection of parts using micrometers, calipers, and gauges. Apply precision measuring tools to identify wear and tear, ensuring accurate assessments for repair or replacement.Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Diesel Technician or in a similar role, 5+ years preferred Proficient in the use of diagnostic tools and equipment. Knowledge of heavy-duty truck systems and components. Technical proficiency in electronic and mechanical systems. Strong attention to detail and precision in inspection and repair processes.
