Job Description

Diesel Mechanic -- $25-40 -- Weekly Pay Job Description We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The role involves servicing a wide variety of equipment, including pickups, forklifts, asphalt equipment, semi tractors, rollers, motor graders, and wheel loaders. You will be responsible for oil changes, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting in the shop. The ideal candidate will have experience with full motor rebuilds, but we are open to training the right person. Responsibilities Perform oil changes and preventive maintenance on a range of equipment. Troubleshoot breakdowns and conduct full repairs. Perform full motor rebuilds, with training available for the right candidate. Work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment. Be prepared for service calls and maintenance repairs as needed. Essential Skills Experience as a mechanic with at least 1 year of troubleshooting equipment. Possess a personal tool set for completing repairs. Proficient in lube tech, repair, hydraulics, preventive maintenance, transmission, brake, diesel maintenance, mechanical troubleshooting, electrical and engine repair. Additional Skills & Qualifications 5+ years of equipment/mechanic knowledge is preferred. 5+ years of experience working in a fleet shop or equipment shop. 2+ years of experience in the construction industry is advantageous. A 2-year degree or equivalent experience, such as growing up on a farm. Self-motivated with a willingness to learn and grow. Why Work Here? We offer paid time off and on-the-job training to support your professional growth. Work Environment Work in a collaborative and tight-knit shop environment with a long-tenured team. The shop does not have heating or air conditioning. Service technicians will travel within a 2-2.5 hour radius to different job sites and need to be on call periodically. The standard workweek is Monday to Friday, 7 am to 5:30 pm, with Saturdays as needed. Expect to work 50 hours per week on average. Dress code includes jeans, boots, and necessary layers as you will be working in a greasy, dirty, and dusty environment. Training will include pairing with a experienced mechanic to learn the processes before handling projects independently. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lincoln, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $42.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
