Diesel Fleet Mechanic 📍

Full-Time | Contract-to-Hire Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Diesel Fleet Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of primarily Ford trucks, including both gas and diesel vehicles. You will play a key role in ensuring our equipment remains safe, reliable, and compliant with DOT regulations, while supporting both shop and occasional field service operations. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and engine issues on gas and diesel fleet vehicles Perform repairs on engines, transmissions, brakes, and electrical systems Conduct routine and preventative maintenance on trucks, trailers, and equipment Perform DOT inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations Read and interpret schematics and wiring diagrams for accurate diagnostics Inspect and repair diesel engines, including fuel systems and related components Maintain and repair fleet equipment such as forklifts and shop machinery Accurately document inspections, maintenance, and repairs Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Provide occasional field service support for on-site equipment breakdowns Required Qualifications Proven experience working on gas and diesel trucks in a fleet or shop environment Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in engines, brakes, and transmissions Experience performing diesel diagnostics and repairs Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices Ability to perform DOT inspections and ensure regulatory compliance Proficiency in reading schematics and wiring diagrams Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems Ability to work independently and as part of a team Preferred Qualifications Experience with heavy equipment (forklifts, skid steers, compressors) Expereince in fleet maintenance Trailer inspection and repair experience Familiarity with diagnostic tools and equipment Why Join Us? Occasional fieldwork may be required, including outdoor repairs in varying conditions. Our shop is organized, safety-focused, and efficiency-driven. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Omaha, NE. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
