Heavy Diesel Mechanic Irvington Trucking Center Irvington, NJ Job Details Full-time $25 - $28 an hour 6 hours ago Qualifications Fabrication Spanish Vehicle mechanics for truck drivers Diesel mechanics English Electrical wiring Diesel truck repair Manual handling Engine maintenance Diesel engine diagnostics Full Job Description Irvington Truck Center is a growing independent heavy-duty diesel repair facility servicing a wide range of commercial vehicles. We work on everything from medium-duty trucks to Class 8 tractors, including owner-operators, fleet vehicles, and commercial accounts. We are looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic who can diagnose and repair virtually any issue that comes through our shop. This is not an entry-level position. We need a technician who can work independently, solve problems, and take pride in quality workmanship. Responsibilities Diagnose and repair heavy-duty diesel trucks from multiple manufacturers including: Freightliner Volvo International Peterbilt Kenworth Mack Hino Isuzu Ford and Ram commercial diesel trucks Perform complete engine diagnostics and repairs. Engine overhauls and rebuilds. In-frame and out-of-frame engine rebuilds. Cylinder head replacement and repair. Camshaft, crankshaft, and timing repairs. Turbocharger replacement and repairs. Fuel system diagnostics and injector replacement. Transmission and clutch replacement. Differential and driveline repairs. Suspension and steering repairs. Brake system diagnostics and repairs. Cooling system repairs. Electrical diagnostics and wiring repairs. Air system repairs. DPF, DEF, SCR, and emissions diagnostics and repairs. Preventive maintenance services. Road testing vehicles after repairs. Complete repair orders and communicate findings to management.
QualificationsRequired :
3+ years of heavy diesel mechanic experience. Experience with all major truck brands. Strong engine diagnostic and troubleshooting skills. Experience performing complete engine rebuilds. Ability to remove and install engines and transmissions. Experience with electrical diagnostics. Own professional mechanic tools. Spanish/English Speaker Ability to lift 75+ pounds. Strong work ethic and reliability.
Preferred :
CDL (not required). Experience with diagnostic software such as OEM software, or equivalent. ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications. Welding and fabrication experience. Hydraulic system knowledge.
