Job Summary Join our dynamic team as a DuraFleet Mobile Fleet Diesel Mechanic, where your expertise keeps fleets of light, medium and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment operating at peak performance. In this energetic role, you'll be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of diesel-powered machinery and vehicles used across our operations. This is a ground-floor opportunity with a brand new DuraFleet territory, and you would be our first technician in Northern New Jersey. About the Job We are hiring a dependable mobile diesel/fleet technician to perform on-site repairs and preventive maintenance for commercial customers across the North East, NJ area. This is an independent field position for someone who can diagnose problems, work without constant supervision, and handle a variety of repairs in the field. If you are tired of flat-rate work, shop politics, or sitting in the same bay every day, this role offers variety, independence, and steady work with a company that is growing fast. Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, brakes, shocks & struts, and HVAC systems on mobile fleet equipment. Conduct preventative maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, tire services, wheel alignments, and fluid checks to extend equipment lifespan. Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring harnesses, and electronic controls on heavy machinery and vehicles. Fabricate or modify parts using power tools and welding techniques to ensure proper fitment and function of equipment components. DOT Inspections. Operate heavy equipment including tractor-trailers, and other industrial machinery safely and efficiently during maintenance or repair procedures. Maintain detailed service records for each vehicle or piece of equipment worked on; document repairs performed and parts used for accountability. Assist in assembling new equipment or parts as needed; perform welding or soldering tasks to repair or enhance machinery components. Support customer service efforts by communicating repair status clearly and providing recommendations for ongoing maintenance needs. Qualifications Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in diesel engine repair and heavy equipment maintenance. Dealership experience or equivalent technical training preferred. Skilled in reading schematics, electrical diagnostics, hydraulic systems, air brake systems, and automotive repair techniques. Proficient with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other mechanical fabrication tools. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely; comfortable working in outdoor environments under various weather conditions. Knowledge of, industrial equipment, tire service procedures, and vehicle alignment processes. Strong understanding of safety protocols related to heavy lifting, welding operations, and equipment operation. Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on efficiency and quality workmanship; customer service orientation is a plus.
