Job Description

Island Transportation operations 30+ units out of each of its 4 locations, delivering petroleum products throughout the Tri-State area. All 4 locations are currently Hiring qualified mechanics.
JOB OVERVIEW
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. As a Diesel Mechanic, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines and tank trailers. This is a hands-on role that requires strong technical knowledge and excellent problem-solving skills. Island Transportation is a Union Environment with great Benefits and Paid Time off. Qualified mechanics are paid $34.00/hr and can receive and additional $1.50 if certified Air Brakes. Must have Own Tools Prior Diesel experience preferred but not required
RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform routine maintenance on diesel engines, including oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues in diesel engines and vehicles Conduct thorough inspections of diesel engines to identify any potential problems or malfunctions Use diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and diagnose engine issues Repair or replace faulty components, such as fuel injectors, alternators, and starters Perform air brake system repairs and maintenance Conduct vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations Keep accurate records of all repairs and maintenance performed SKILLS To excel in this role, you should have the following skills: Strong knowledge of diagnostics and repair techniques Proficiency in soldering and welding Experience with air brake systems Familiarity with vehicle maintenance procedures Ability to work independently as well as part of a team Proven experience as a diesel mechanic or service technician is preferred Tire service experience is a plus If you have a passion for diesel engines and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, we would love to hear from you.
