As we continue to expand, we are seeking a Shop Mechanic to join our dedicated team. Job Summary This position is responsible for routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repair on medium to heavy-duty trucks/trailers and related equipment. To succeed in this role, one should have a solid knowledge of basic mechanic's tools, service, and diagnostic equipment, as well as strong attention to detail, excellent communication, and customer service skills, and be able to work independently or as a team member. Candidate(s) must have a minimum of 2 years' experience. Candidate(s) must possess a strong commitment to the safety of self and others. The Mechanic will be required to operate in a shop environment. Must be self-motivated, a team player and be open to occasionally work outside in adverse weather conditions. Candidates must be willing to learn new tasks and have pride in the quality of their work. Mechanic Responsibilities Inspect, analyze, and diagnose trucks, trailers and related equipment for mechanical issues, faulty and replacement parts. Perform requested repairs according to industry standard. Perform routine maintenance on trailers and related equipment. Perform trailer body work and under-carriage work (e.g. air bag replacement, cross-members, dolly legs, tandem system) Problem solve and document an action plan for all repairs and follow checklists and protocols while conducting repairs. Ensure a safe, organized, and tidy workspace, including regularly cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment. Follow all health and safety rules and guidelines, as well as common sense safety practices. Ability to work independently, as well as support coworkers, able to work as part of team and work well with co-workers. Perform other duties as assigned. Education and/or other
Work Experience Requirements:
Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing quality performance Solid judgment to make cost saving decisions. Ability to multi-task Solid analytical skills Repair experience with and without manuals. Must have your own set of tools.
Electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting tooling:
DVOM, battery tester, gauges, etc. Must have experience with OEM (ET, Insite, DDDL8, JPRO) and aftermarket scan tools for diagnostics. Must be physically able to lift and work with no restrictions. Proficient at minor welding repairs, stick and wire, cutting processes etc. preferred, but not required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient computer skills Must have ability to communicate repairs to manager and complete daily work orders and timecards. Technical degree or certification a plus but not required with experience. High school diploma or GED required. Must have a good driving record. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen. Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance and adherence to schedule. Flexibility to work extended overtime and weekends a plus.
Work Environment :
Work is performed in a shop; both indoors and outdoors. Activities occur inside and outside and are subject to work environments that are not climate controlled, weather, and hot/cold temperature changes, dirt, dust, soot and possibly mold, loud noise, and ladders to use for high heights. Potential hazards such as moving vehicles, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, high places, high heat, and exposure to chemicals, atmospheric conditions (e.g. fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases), or poor ventilation, or a workspace may be exposed to smoke residue, mold and mildew, contaminated water, or other unsanitary conditions, as well as being in closed quarters/confined spaces (e.g. crawl spaces, small, enclosed rooms, attics, etc.)
