Job Description
Rig Mechanic
- This is a full-time, permanent position.
- Candidates can be based anywhere in the USA; they will be flown to project sites by the Company.
- Project sites are primarily based in Nevada, Arizona, Colorado, and California.
- Generally, employees work 20 days on / 10 days off.

Our team of professionals use cutting-edge dual tube RC technology, wireline core methods and more for obtaining soil and rock samples with precision accuracy.About the Rig Mechanic position:
We are looking for an experienced Rig Mechanic to perform hands-on maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on a fleet of RC and Diamond drills, support equipment, and heavy-duty diesel components. This role is heavily field-based and requires someone who understands the unique demands of exploration drilling. This is not an entry-level position — we are seeking a mechanic who knows the difference between a rod loader issue, a booster vs. aux compressor problem, or a top-drive hydraulic failure on a Foremost or Schramm rig.Job Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on:
- RC rigs (Schramm 685/450, Foremost Explorer 1500, etc.)
- Diamond/Sonic rigs (Diedrich, Boart, TSI150 CC, etc.)
- Air systems: 900/350s, boosters, rotary screw compressors
- Diesel engines (CAT, Cummins, Detroit)
- Hydraulic systems, pumps, cylinders, and controls
- Conduct scheduled services and preventative maintenance using MaintainX workflows.
- Support field supervisors in troubleshooting real-time breakdowns to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate service logs, parts usage, and field repair notes.
- Work safely in MSHA-regulated mine environments.
- Assist with rig moves, inspections, and pre-deployment mechanical checks.
- Communicate clearly with supervisors, rig managers, and parts/purchasing personnel.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Other duties as required.
Job Requirements:
- 5+ years experience as a heavy-duty mechanic, rig mechanic, or drill mechanic (required).
- Proven experience working on RC and/or Diamond/Core rigs (required).
- Strong understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Experience with diesel engines and air compressors common to drilling.
- Ability to fabricate, weld, and perform field-fit repairs is an asset.
MSHA 5000-23
(or willingness to obtain before deployment).- Valid driver's license (CDL is an asset).
- Ability to work on remote mine sites and travel as required.
