In this role, you will work with a diverse fleet of construction machinery, including excavators, skid steers, dump trucks, service trucks, and other heavy-duty equipment. You will be instrumental in maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting diesel engines and mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance, safety, and uptime on active construction projects. Duties Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and electrical components of heavy equipment and trucks. Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan. Troubleshoot equipment issues both in the shop and in the field to keep projects running on schedule. Repair and service construction equipment including excavators, skid steers, dump trucks, service trucks, and other concrete and earthmoving equipment. Read schematics and technical manuals to accurately diagnose issues and perform precise repairs. Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and inspection logs to ensure compliance with safety and DOT standards. Coordinate with superintendents, fleet managers, and equipment operators to prioritize repairs and communicate equipment status. Follow all company safety procedures and use appropriate PPE at all times while working in shop and field conditions. Skills and qualifications 5+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment mechanic. Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, and construction equipment. Experience diagnosing and repairing hydraulic systems on excavators, skid steers, and other construction machinery. Ability to read and interpret electrical and hydraulic schematics for troubleshooting complex issues. Proficiency with diagnostic tools, scan tools, and standard shop equipment. Skilled in use of hand tools and power tools; basic fabrication or welding experience is a plus. Valid driver's license; CDL and ASE Diesel Certification are preferred but not required. Physical capability for heavy lifting and working in outdoor construction environments, with a strong commitment to safety. Tools and work environment DCI provides shop equipment, consumables, and required specialty tools. Mechanics are expected to provide their own basic hand tools. If assigned a service truck, it must be parked at the warehouse after hours unless otherwise approved. What we offer Hourly pay depending on experience. Standard 40‑hour workweek , with overtime available for emergency or critical breakdowns. W‑2 employment with benefits package.
