Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic team as a Vac/Pump Truck Diesel Mechanic and become a vital part of maintaining and repairing heavy-duty equipment used in construction, transportation, and industrial settings. In this role, you will diagnose, service, and repair a wide range of diesel-powered vehicles and machinery, ensuring optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will keep our fleet running smoothly, supporting essential operations across various industries. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspensions, air brake systems, and HVAC components. Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, brake repairs, shocks & struts replacement, and wheel alignments. Utilize schematics, technical manuals, and diagnostic tools to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues on heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, farm machinery, and industrial equipment. Fabricate parts or modify equipment using hand tools, power tools, welding, soldering, and assembly techniques to meet specific operational needs. Repair and maintain pump trucks and vacuum trucks used in industrial applications; ensure compliance with safety standards during all repair activities. Perform heavy lifting tasks safely while handling large components or equipment parts; operate related machinery such as forklifts or other heavy-duty vehicles as needed. Document all maintenance activities accurately in service records; communicate effectively with team members and customers regarding repair status and recommendations. Experience Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment repair, automotive diagnostics, or industrial machinery maintenance. Dealership experience is highly preferred for familiarity with manufacturer-specific systems like Caterpillar or similar brands. Strong knowledge of electrical systems, schematics reading, welding techniques, and fabrication processes. Hands-on experience with excavator operation, crane servicing, tractor-trailer maintenance, or farm machinery is advantageous. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, soldering equipment, and diagnostic software to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues. Familiarity with vehicle maintenance including air brake systems, alignments, hydraulics, suspension components, HVAC systems, transmissions, shocks & struts repairs. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while maintaining attention to detail during repairs or inspections. Excellent customer service skills for interacting professionally with clients or team members regarding equipment status or repairs.
