We are seeking a skilled and motivated Heavy Diesel Mechanic (Fire Apparatus Technician) to join our team. This position offers the opportunity to work on specialized emergency vehicles and equipment that support first responders in protecting their communities. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and diagnostic abilities, a commitment to quality workmanship, and a desire to continue learning and growing within the industry. Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, and maintain fire apparatus, ambulances, and other emergency vehicles Perform preventative maintenance and inspections Troubleshoot and repair diesel and gasoline engines Diagnose and repair hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems Service fire pumps, aerial devices, and related apparatus equipment Complete work orders, inspection reports, and maintenance records accurately Conduct vehicle testing to ensure proper operation and safety Work closely with service advisors and manufacturers. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Participate in ongoing technical training and professional development Qualifications Minimum 2-3 years of diesel or heavy equipment mechanical experience required Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Reliable, self-motivated, and safety-conscious Valid driver's license required as well as CDL ASE, EVT, or other industry certifications preferred Benefits Competitive Pay Based on Experience Health Insurance Paid Holidays Ongoing Training and Career Development Opportunities Why Join Hudson Valley Fire Equipment?
