If you have strong mechanical aptitude, experience working on heavy vehicles, and enjoy solving complex mechanical issues, we encourage you to apply. What You'll Do Inspect buses and identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and safety-related issues. Diagnose defects and determine appropriate repairs. Perform maintenance, repairs, adjustments, and component replacements. Conduct preventive maintenance to ensure vehicle reliability and safety. Operate shop equipment and vehicles safely. Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Work independently while collaborating with supervisors and team members. Required Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience. New York State CDL Class B license or permit required. Passenger, Air Brake, and Towing endorsements required. Ability to obtain EPA Section 609 Refrigerant Certification. Ability to obtain Powered Industrial Vehicle (forklift) certification. Strong knowledge of vehicle systems, engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and mechanical repair.

Heavy-duty vehicle maintenance Diesel engines Power transmissions and gear trains Hydraulic systems Air brake systems Welding, cutting, and fabrication Vehicle electrical diagnostics Skills Assessment Candidates must successfully pass an Advanced Comprehensive Skills Test covering: Measurement and Hand Tools General Mechanical Knowledge Power Transmissions/Gear Trains Hydraulics Compressors and Air Conditioning Systems Heat Exchangers Vehicle Components Vehicle Engines Basic Electrical Systems Burning, Cutting, and Welding Physical Requirements This position requires the ability to: Lift up to 80 pounds. Bend, kneel, squat, crawl, climb ladders, and work under vehicles. Stand, walk, and perform physically demanding work throughout the shift. Work safely around moving vehicles, equipment, and shop hazards. Work Environment Primarily indoor garage environment with some outdoor work. Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, fumes, chemicals, and varying weather conditions. Required use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Additional Information This position is designated as Safety-Sensitive under federal regulations and is subject to required drug and alcohol testing. Why NFTA?
