A specialty truck rental operation is hiring a Diesel Truck Technician - Specialty Equipment in Yaphank, NY to repair, outfit, and maintain commercial trucks. Duties & Responsibilities Maintain and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on rental and customer commercial trucks and specialty equipment. Assemble and install hydraulic and 12-volt electrical components on specialty commercial trucks. Upfit and install truck-mounted equipment such as buckets, service bodies, and related specialty products. Read and follow blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, and written instructions to complete accurate installations and repairs. Perform quality checks, identify defects, and ensure completed work meets quality standards. Maintain a clean, safe shop environment and follow PPE and workplace safety practices.

Requirements Required:

High school diploma or equivalent. 5+ years of relevant hands-on experience with commercial truck repair, mechanical systems, electrical systems, hydraulics, and/or diesel engines. Working knowledge of diesel engines, commercial trucks, hydraulic systems, and 12-volt electrical systems. Strong mechanical and electrical skills with the ability to troubleshoot, repair, assemble, and install components. Must own tools applicable to the position. Ability to operate a plasma cutter and use an oxygen/acetylene torch. Able to commute to Yaphank, NY, lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, work in a noisy shop environment, and wear required PPE.

Preferred:

Experience working on bucket trucks and digger derricks. CDL is preferred. #FJ1

Compensation:

$30.00 - $40.00/hour starting pay based on previous experience, certifications, and training Overtime paid at time and a half after 40 hours/week Company uniforms provided On-the-job training and opportunities for advancement
