Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a motivated and skilled Dump Truck / Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting heavy-duty dump trucks, diesel engines, and a variety of industrial equipment. Your expertise will ensure the safe, efficient operation of our fleet and machinery, supporting our ongoing projects and operational needs. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with a diverse range of dump truck / semi truck and trailers in a fast-paced environment that values proactive maintenance and technical excellence. Duties Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance on dump trucks, diesel engines, and heavy equipment to ensure optimal performance. Diagnose mechanical issues using schematics, automotive diagnostics tools, and mechanical knowledge; execute repairs efficiently. Conduct repairs on transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, shocks & struts, and HVAC components. Fabricate parts or components as needed using power tools, welding equipment, soldering techniques, and hand tools. Maintain detailed service records including maintenance logs, repair reports, and inspection checklists. Operate heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and tractor-trailers safely and effectively during repair or testing procedures. Assist with tire service, wheel alignment, and brake repairs to ensure vehicle safety standards are met or exceeded. Support equipment assembly or disassembly for repairs or upgrades while adhering to safety protocols. Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot electrical systems and perform electrical repairs on heavy machinery. Ensure compliance with safety regulations related to vehicle maintenance and heavy equipment operation. Experience Proven mechanic experience working with heavy-duty vehicles such as dump trucks and tractor-trailers. Dealership experience is highly preferred for familiarity with manufacturer-specific systems and schematics. Hands-on fabrication skills including welding, soldering, and metalworking are essential. Knowledge of Caterpillar (CAT) equipment or similar industrial machinery is advantageous. Experience operating excavators, cranes, forklifts, or other heavy machinery is desirable. Strong understanding of automotive diagnostics and electrical systems related to diesel engines and industrial equipment. Familiarity with service technician responsibilities including troubleshooting hydraulics, transmissions, air brakes, suspension systems, HVAC units, and tire services. Ability to read technical schematics accurately and interpret complex mechanical diagrams. Skilled in the use of power tools, hand tools, welding equipment, and other maintenance apparatuses. Excellent customer service skills for interacting professionally with team members and clients when necessary.
