Job Description

Overview - Mechanics Assistants must be prepared to support our mechanics, have a strong work ethic, and a willingness to learn. This position is a supportive role designed to help our mechanics perform maintenance with even greater efficiency. This role involves helping troubleshoot, diagnose and repair diesel engines, transmissions, drive shafts, differentials, clutches, PTO's and pumps. Responsibilities - Show up daily and on time with a good attitude and a solid work ethic. Learning to use sophisticated computer test equipment to be able to diagnose issues, read and follow diagnostic procedures. Assist in performing equipment repairs in shop or field locations as requested. Follow and help the mechanics as they perform routine maintenance on vehicles/heavy equipment to include oil changes, greasing and adding fluids, change filters and conduct preventive maintenance. Learn to operate hand tools, pneumatic tools, electric tools and other various hand and power tools safely. Train with mechanic to operate shop equipment such as welders, compressors, pressers, and other tools as required. Changing heavy duty truck tires. Ability to lift and carry 50lb, push and pull 100lbs using safety tools. Other tasks as assigned. Pre-Employment Requirements- Pass and submit a drug test Pass a background check Safety Performance History record request from prior employers (last 3 years) Basic knowledge of construction equipment Strong mechanical aptitude, including knowledge of tools applicable to position Ability to work in non-climate-controlled conditions Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification (preferred) Education, License, & Certifications Required Valid driver's license Must have good driving record (MVR) Annual FMCSA Clearinghouse review
Pay:
$18.00 - $25.00 per hour
