Job Description Job Description Diesel Mechanic / Bus Mechanic - Relocate to Alaska Ketchikan, AK $150,000+ Annual Base Salary (DOE) Full-Time | Monday-Friday Dayshift Relocation Assistance Available High-Paying Diesel Mechanic Opportunity in Coastal Alaska We are seeking an experienced Diesel Mechanic / Bus Mechanic / Fleet Mechanic for a bus fleet in Ketchikan, Alaska. This is a rare opportunity for a technician who wants to earn $150,000+ annually while living in one of the most unique coastal communities in the United States. Ketchikan is located in Southeast Alaska (not the extreme north) and is known for its waterfront lifestyle, fishing industry, and strong tourism economy. It offers an outdoor-focused lifestyle with world-class fishing, boating, hiking, and natural scenery. What This Role Offers $150,000+ annual base salary (based on experience) Relocation assistance available Monday-Friday schedule (dayshift) Long-term, stable fleet operation Schedule Peak Season (May-October) Fleet operates heavily for tourism and transportation demand Focus on uptime, repairs, and preventative maintenance Occasional after-hours or roadside support may be required Off-Season (November-April) Major repairs, inspections, and fleet overhaul preparation Preventative maintenance and long-term reliability improvements Key Responsibilities Diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel-powered buses and fleet vehicles Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing Troubleshoot engine, electrical, brake, suspension, steering, and drivetrain systems Conduct DOT inspections and ensure regulatory compliance Maintain detailed service records, work orders, and maintenance documentation Manage parts inventory and coordinate purchasing Work with vendors and technical resources to resolve complex repairs Overhaul engines, transmissions, and major components as needed Maintain safe, organized, and efficient shop operations Support overall fleet readiness and operational reliability Qualifications Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills Experience with diesel trucks, buses, transit vehicles, or heavy equipment Knowledge of DOT regulations and fleet compliance standards Ability to work independently in a lead or senior mechanic capacity Strong communication and problem-solving skills CDL Class A or B preferred (not required) Experience with small engines or marine/outboard systems is a plus Must have own tools Why This Opportunity This is a high-paying lead mechanic role with real ownership of fleet operations, strong compensation, and the opportunity to relocate to one of Alaska's most scenic coastal communities.
