Yes Hood River Garbage, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a dependable Preventative Maintenance Diesel Mechanic to support our fleet operations in Hood River, Oregon. This role heavily focuses on scheduled preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on a diverse fleet of refuse trucks and equipment to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance. This is a stable, long‑term opportunity for entry to mid-level mechanics looking to grow with an industry leader while working in a safety‑focused, team‑driven environment. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance services and mechanical repairs on fleet vehicles and equipment Familiarity with Cummins, Paccar, Freightliner and International systems a plus Conduct routine safety inspections to ensure compliance with company, DOT, and OSHA standards Review and complete repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRs) Complete accurate documentation using fleet maintenance software , including parts usage and labor time Communicate clearly with senior mechanic and/or Maintenance Manager regarding required repairs and vehicle status Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Perform additional maintenance related tasks as needed. DOE Welding experience preferred but not required Qualifications 1+ year of experience in truck or diesel equipment maintenance and repair OR completion of an accredited vocational or technical diesel program. Entry level individuals will also be considered.
