Job Overview Join our dynamic team as a Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic, where you'll be at the forefront of maintaining, repairing, and optimizing a wide range of heavy machinery and industrial equipment. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm equipment, ensuring they operate safely and efficiently. Your expertise will keep our operations running smoothly, supporting various industries including construction, agriculture, and transportation. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment including excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial machinery using OEM specifications and schematics. Conduct preventive maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, hydraulic system checks, transmission servicing, brake repairs, tire service, and alignment adjustments. Fabricate custom parts or modifications using welding, soldering, hand tools, power tools, and fabrication techniques to meet specific operational needs. Troubleshoot electrical systems, hydraulics, suspension components, HVAC systems, and diesel engines to identify issues accurately and implement effective repairs. Use heavy lifting equipment safely to remove or install large components; perform assembly and disassembly of machinery parts during repairs or upgrades. Maintain detailed service records for all repairs performed; ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturer guidelines. Assist in the inspection of equipment for safety hazards or potential failures; recommend repairs or replacements to prevent downtime. Requirements Proven mechanic experience with heavy equipment repair in a dealership or industrial setting; familiarity with OEM parts and schematics is essential. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brake systems, electrical diagnostics, HVAC systems, and suspension components. Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; capable of using hand tools and power tools effectively. Experience working with diverse machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts (including certification), farm machinery, tractor-trailers, and automotive repair is highly desirable. Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately; excellent problem-solving skills for troubleshooting complex mechanical issues. Physically capable of heavy lifting; comfortable working in a shop environment that requires manual dexterity and attention to detail. Valid certifications related to heavy equipment operation or repair are preferred; dealership experience is a plus.
