Diesel Mechanic

$3,000 sign-on bonus available for a limited time! J.B Hunt is hiring experienced diesel mechanics for our Bethlehem shop, rail and customer locations! Maintenance technicians will perform maintenance, service, and repair of J.B. Hunt tractors and other equipment. Technicians must be able to troubleshoot, diagnose and complete all fleet maintenance processes and ensure that units meet J.B. Hunt specifications at all times.

Key Responsibilities:

Demonstrate knowledge of preventative maintenance and standard repairs related to trailer equipment, including air brake systems and FHWA inspections Accurately perform basic repairs up to company and manufacturer's specifications, complete work orders and demonstrate understanding of company requirements for standard repair times (SRT) and warranty guidelines Understand and effectively follow all shop safety procedures Maintain professional communication with J.B. Hunt personnel and customers May onboard and mentor new Tractor Technician trainees; act as team lead to include beginning or ending shifts Participate in Original Equipment Manufacturing training for OE repairs Troubleshoot tractor issues, develop innovative solutions and work independently under minimal direction

Minimum Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age with one to three years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience or military equivalent Demonstration of skills and abilities through education, certifications, military or other experiences Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program Willingness to work outdoors in the elements if needed Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed

Preferred Qualifications:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 1 year of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair, or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent DOT certified in FHWA inspections and air brakes Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums Ability to manage multiple priorities Ability to work both independently and as part of a team Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.) Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds) Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE) Technicians can gain new skills and grow their opportunities through J.B.
