Job Description
Diesel Technician-Highly Skilled 4 -Ten Hour Shifts Available The Diesel Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel engines, vehicles, and related systems. This role ensures all work is performed safely, efficiently, and to manufacturer standards, supporting overall shop productivity and customer satisfaction. Qualifications Vocational or technical training in diesel mechanics preferred ASE certification or equivalent preferred Minimum 4-5 years of experience in diesel service, maintenance, or repair Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, brakes, electrical systems, and fuel systems Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation Basic computer skills for diagnostic tools and service management systems Skills & Competencies Strong diagnostic and mechanical skills Ability to perform repairs accurately and efficiently Attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong organizational and time-management skills Knowledge of safety regulations and shop procedures Effective communication skills with service advisors and team members Key Responsibilities Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues on diesel vehicles and equipment Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, and inspections Use diagnostic tools, hand tools, and shop equipment to complete repairs Document work performed, parts used, and labor hours accurately Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area Follow all safety procedures and comply with company policies Communicate with service advisors and management regarding repair status and required parts Assist in training or mentoring less-experienced technicians as needed Work Environment Primarily in a service shop or maintenance facility Exposure to noise, grease, oils, fumes, and moving equipment or vehicles Frequent interaction with service staff, parts personnel, and supervisors Compliance with all safety policies and procedures is required Physical & Other Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift parts or equipment up to 50-75 lbs Ability to work in varying temperatures and shop conditions Manual dexterity for using tools and diagnostic equipment Ability to work flexible hours or overtime as needed Reliable attendance and punctuality required Compensation Competitive hourly pay or salary based on experience Level A Technician $34.00 to $40.00 Level B Technician $30.00 to $34.00 Level C Technician $27.00 to 30.00 Overtime eligibility in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws Benefits may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and employee discounts Equal Employment Opportunity Statement Berman is an Equal Opportunity Employer and prohibit discrimination and harassment of any kind.
