Diesel Truck Mechanic

$3,000 sign-on bonus for a limited time! J.B. Hunt is hiring tractor-trailer mechanics to join our team in Harrisburg! As a Mobile Diesel Technician, you are responsible for performing repairs and maintenance services of our tractors, trailers, chassis, containers and power equipment at a customer site or rail yard using a mobile service truck. It is not a roadside assistance position.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform preventive maintenance tasks to include, but not limited to, tire replacements/flat repairs, brake adjustments/services/replacements, electrical diagnostics, basic structural repairs on trailer chassis, sub-frames, etc Operate assigned service truck in a professional manner and according to company requirements; keep unit clean and well stocked Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures and properly document damage to company equipment to allow subrogation of repair costs Understand and demonstrate the basic use of a cutting torch and welding equipment; perform minor repairs on chassis, frames, brackets, etc Patch holes in trailer/container side panels and roofs ensuring all holes are sealed and water tight Perform annual AA Trailer and FHWA Brake Inspections under supervision of a certified technician as required Follow all safety requirements while at a customer or rail yard This position has the possibility to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends in addition to overtime; it requires full-time attendance.

Minimum Qualifications:

18 years of age for equipment up to 10,000lbs or 21 years of age for equipment over 10,000 lbs and demonstration of skills and abilities gained with at least one year of diesel mechanic experience. Possess a clean motor vehicle record per J.B. Hunt guidelines Able to supply your own basic tools or purchase through our toolbox purchase program Willingness to work outdoors in the elements Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends, if needed

Preferred Qualifications:

At least 1 year of experience in DOT inspections, FHWA inspections, and air brakes Welding certification Forklift certification and experience EPA section 608 certification and refrigeration license Fill out our short form to get started!
