Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and motivated Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining diesel and gas equipment, including school buses and vans. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of our fleet and equipment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with advanced diagnostics and contribute to the smooth operation of our operations. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, hydraulics, suspension systems, and electrical components using OEM specifications and schematics. Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire service, air brake inspections, alignments, and fluid replacements to prevent breakdowns. Fabricate and modify parts or components as needed using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques. Conduct rigorous, timed safety checks (e.g., lights, swing arms, escape hatches) and prepare vehicles for state or federal regulatory inspections. Utilize automotive diagnostics tools to identify issues accurately and efficiently troubleshoot electrical systems and engine problems. Maintain detailed service records, complete inspection reports, and document repairs following safety standards and company procedures. Provide on-road breakdown assistance, towing arrangements, or field repairs when necessary. Qualifications Proven mechanic experience with a strong background in diesel engine repair and vehicle maintenance. A high school diploma (or equivalent) combined with a degree or certification from a vocational/technical trade school. A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class B with passenger and school bus endorsements, plus a state vehicle inspection license and emissions. Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering tools, and diagnostic software. Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and work in physically demanding environments. Salary will be based on experience.
