Job Description

The Packer Avenue Marine Terminal is operated by Greenwich Terminals LLC and is one of the most productive terminals in the United States. The facility employs 12 highly productive and safe in-house labor crews and offers 19 start times which creates greater flexibility for vessel departure and arrival times. This adds up to cargo being moved faster, discharged faster, and saves distributors time and money.
Position Overview:
Greenwich Terminals is seeking qualified mechanics to contribute to overall terminal operations by inspecting and maintaining company equipment and vehicles. Heavy equipment experience is preferred. This is a union position offering excellent benefits, including paid vacation and holidays, full health care at no cost to the employee, and a pension and severance fund. Shift 2nd and 3rd Shift Positions Available.
Primary Responsibilities:
Inspect, test, and maintain equipment and vehicles to ensure proper working condition Perform preventative maintenance including engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire changes, and filter replacements Diagnose and repair engine failures and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical system malfunctions Replace defective parts and components as needed Listen to and assess operator complaints to identify and resolve equipment issues Verify vehicle capability through test drives and adjustment of controls and systems Maintain accurate equipment records by documenting all service and repairs Possess a basic knowledge of parts and parts ordering processes Keep vehicles clean and well-maintained in appearance Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area at all times Follow all company safety policies and utilize safe working practices Ability to work at satellite sites within a 10-mile radius Opportunities for training and career advancement are available
Requirements:
2+ years of automotive or heavy equipment mechanic experience, or a Technical School diploma Ability to lift 50+ pounds Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset Dependable, persistent, and able to manage time effectively Demonstrated problem-solving ability and strong attention to detail Commitment to safety management and safe working practices Company is an equal opportunity employer and offers competitive salary, excellent benefits, paid vacation, and holidays.
