Fleet Diesel Mechanic Snyder Events North Charleston, SC Job Details Full-time $28 - $32 an hour 1 day ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Employee assistance program Vision insurance 401(k) matching Retirement plan Qualifications Oil change Maintenance High school diploma or GED Suspension Transmissions Full Job Description Fleet Diesel Mechanic 1 Job Summary We are seeking a skilled and dependable Fleet Diesel Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, inspections, and repairs on diesel trucks, trailers, and fleet vehicles. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting abilities, experience working with mechanical and electrical systems, and a commitment to safety and quality service. 2 Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance and scheduled inspections on diesel and gas vehicles and equipment. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, steering, brake, and fuel system issues. Repair or replace engines, transmissions, brakes, tires, lighting systems, batteries, and other vehicle components. Conduct diagnostic testing and interpret results to determine proper repairs. Inspect and maintain air brake and hydraulic brake systems. Service cooling, charging, cranking, driveline, clutch, and axle systems. Perform tire inspections, balancing, mounting, rotations, and replacements. Operate and inspect liftgates, cargo handling equipment, and coupling systems. Complete oil changes, lubrication services, alignments, and fluid checks. Road test vehicles to identify issues and verify completed repairs. Respond to roadside service calls and emergency breakdowns as needed. Communicate with customers regarding repair needs, maintenance recommendations, estimates, and scheduling. Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and inventory documentation. Utilize shop management software and electronic maintenance systems. Follow all company safety policies and comply with DOT, federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain a clean and organized work area. Assist in training and mentoring junior technicians as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned. 3 Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Previous experience as a diesel mechanic or heavy equipment technician. Strong knowledge of diesel engines, electrical systems, brake systems, and vehicle diagnostics. Ability to use diagnostic tools, hand tools, and repair equipment safely and effectively. Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in various weather and shop conditions. Valid driver's license required; CDL preferred. Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Ability to plan and coordinate work with manager and technicians. Document all work, issues, repairs, parts and costs, following standard operating procedures. 4 Preferred Skills Experience with preventive maintenance programs. Knowledge of DOT inspections and compliance requirements. ASE certifications or manufacturer certifications are a plus. Experience using electronic maintenance and shop management systems.
Pay:
$28.00 - $32.00 per hour
