Job Description

Harms Oil is a trusted leading petroleum distributor serving the northern Midwest as a main supplier of gasoline, fuel, lubricants, propane, and renewable fuels. Within our region we have Shop locations based in Rapid City, Sioux Falls, Aberdeen South Dakota and Omaha Nebraska. Harms Oil is seeking an experienced Shop Mechanic. This position would report directly to the Shop Manager and is responsible for the repair and maintenance of all heavy trucks and trailers within the Harms Oil fleet. Responsibilities:
Perform truck and trailer inspections to meet internal and DOT requirements, and accurately complete required paperwork. Properly repair and maintain Harms Oil Company's fleet of heavy trucks and trailers. Diagnose, rebuild, and repair equipment. Enter paperwork/stories regarding truck and trailer repair records from the previous day. Order parts and submit paperwork as needed. Keep vehicles and work area clean and orderly. Wash trucks and trailers. Sweep floors and maintain a clean work environment. Clean, repair and organize buildings and grounds. Set up new vehicles with parts and preparations for timely transition to the field. Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Minimum of one year experience in the maintenance and proven knowledge of vehicle diagnosis and repair. Automotive Technology or Diesel Technology education preferred. Knowledge of the freight or fuel transport industry preferred. Knowledge of methods, materials, tools and techniques used in vehicle equipment repair and maintenance. Versatility, with a demonstrated ability to change tasks and direction with a moment's notice. Welding knowledge, with experience in fabrication. Excellent problem solving skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Preferred but not Required Mechanic, possess a Commercial Class A driver's license with Tanker and Hazmat endorsements
