Job Description

Diesel Technician (Light/Medium Duty) Job Overview Barsh Auto Service is hiring a high-level Diesel Technician who can own diagnostics, execute repairs with precision, and operate within a structured, process-driven environment. We specialize in light- and medium-duty diesel trucks (Power Stroke, Cummins, Duramax, etc.) — no semis, no heavy equipment. This is a busy, high-volume shop built on integrity, transparency, and performance. This is not an entry-level position. Technicians are expected to diagnose drivability and engine concerns, produce accurate inspections, and contribute to a team focused on doing the job right the first time. While self-sufficiency is expected , you will be supported by a collaborative team environment that includes access to an experienced Master Technician. Whether you're working through a complex diagnostic challenge or looking to expand your skillset, you'll have experienced technical leadership available to help you continue growing without sacrificing productivity. Compensation Flat Rate Pay Plan (Highly Competitive, Based on Experience) Consistent workflow to support strong flag hours Performance-driven environment with high earning potential What You'll Do Diagnostics & Repair (Primary Focus) Diagnose and repair engine, fuel, electrical, and drivability issues Perform advanced troubleshooting using scan tools, electrical testing, and manual diagnostics Complete repairs on diesel engines, cooling systems, emissions systems, and driveline components Inspection & Process Execution Perform Digital Vehicle Inspections (DVIs) using Tekmetric Document findings clearly with photos, notes, and recommendations Identify safety, maintenance, and repair opportunities Quality & Accountability Ensure all work meets our "Fixed Right First Time" standards Participate in quality control checks and test drives Reduce comebacks through accurate diagnostics and proper repair execution Shop Contribution Maintain productivity and efficiency in a high-volume environment Keep work area clean, organized, and safe Collaborate with advisors to ensure clear communication and proper job execution What We're Looking For Proven ability to diagnose diesel vehicles independently Experience with: Ford Power Stroke RAM Cummins GM Duramax Proficiency with scan tools, electrical diagnostics, and drivability troubleshooting Strong understanding of suspension, steering, brakes, and drivetrain systems Ability to communicate findings clearly through DVIs and with advisors High level of accountability, urgency, and attention to detail Preferred (Not Required) ASE Certifications Advanced diesel diagnostic experience Why Barsh Auto Service Busy shop with steady workflow and strong earning potential Flat-rate environment designed to support high flag hours Process-driven operation with clear expectations and accountability High-transparency culture built on integrity and customer trust Strong leadership support focused on technician success No heavy-duty trucks or equipment — consistent, focused diesel workload Team environment that values collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional growth Technical Support & Growth Access to an experienced Master Technician for advanced diagnostic support Collaborative environment where technicians work together to solve difficult problems Opportunity to expand diagnostic and drivability skillsets through hands-on mentorship Technical leadership focused on helping technicians improve efficiency, accuracy, and flag hours Structured processes that allow technicians to focus on diagnosing and repairing vehicles rather than fighting chaos and disorganization Benefits 401(k) Matching Medical, Dental, Vision insurance Paid Time Off Employee Discount Referral Program Job Type Full-Time In-Person Additional Notes This is a role for technicians who want to perform at a high level and be compensated accordingly.
