Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team, responsible for maintaining, repairing, and diagnosing heavy-duty diesel passenger bus engines. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with diesel engine repair, automotive diagnostics, and passenger bus maintenance. This role offers an opportunity to work with a variety of buses such as Ford F-550, F-650, Freightliner, MCI, Vanpool, Volvo, Bluebird school buses, etc. The Diesel Mechanic will ensure all equipment operates efficiently and safely, contributing to the overall productivity of our operations. Duties Operate on buses such as Ford F-550, F-650, Freightliner, MCI, Vanpool, Volvo, Bluebird school buses, etc. Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, and air brake systems. Conduct routine maintenance such as oil changes, and brake repairs on various vehicles. Utilize schematics and technical manuals to troubleshoot complex mechanical issues. Fabricate parts or modifications using hand tools, power tools, welding, and soldering techniques as needed. Repair and maintain HVAC systems on vehicles or equipment when applicable. Conduct alignment checks and repairs to ensure proper vehicle operation. Perform welding and assembly tasks to repair or modify equipment components. Maintain detailed service records and ensure all repairs meet safety standards and manufacturer specifications. Assist in the training of junior technicians or apprentices when required. Skills Proven dealership experience or extensive background in automotive repair with a focus on diesel engines. Strong mechanical knowledge of Bus repairs, A/C systems. Proficiency with schematics, electrical systems, hydraulics, HVAC systems, transmissions, shocks & struts, suspension components, and air brakes. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and other maintenance tools. Ability to perform complex diagnostics using automotive diagnostics software and techniques. Experience with fabrication techniques for custom repairs or modifications. Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail in troubleshooting mechanical issues. Physical ability for heavy lifting and working in various environments requiring manual dexterity. Strong customer service skills to communicate effectively with clients or team members regarding repairs or maintenance needs. This position requires a dedicated professional with a comprehensive understanding of diesel engine repair combined with practical experience operating heavy machinery. Candidates should demonstrate mechanical aptitude along with the ability to work independently or as part of a team to ensure optimal equipment performance and safety standards are met at all times.
