Position Summary We are seeking a hands-on, dependable Diesel Mechanic with strong knowledge of industrial and diesel engines. This role is focused on maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing a wide variety of heavy-duty equipment, including diesel generators, transfer pumps, air compressors, and other engine-driven systems. This is not just a shop job—it's a critical field-facing role that helps ensure our equipment performs in high-stakes environments. Applicants must come equipped with their own tools and be prepared to work independently or with a team under tight deadlines. Key Responsibilities Diagnostics & Repair Perform diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, power units, and generator systems. Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues across Coastal's rental fleet. Conduct routine maintenance tasks and inspections to maximize uptime and performance. Equipment Preparation & Field Readiness Test and service generator and pump packages prior to customer delivery. Support field deployments including setup, teardowns, and on-site troubleshooting. Maintain job-ready standards for all equipment and document work performed. Shop & Yard Operations Complete all work orders with detailed notes, parts used, and recommended follow-ups. Organize and maintain a safe, efficient, and clean work environment. Assist in maintaining parts inventory and tracking tools/equipment used on jobs. On-Call Rotation & Travel Participate in on-call rotation for emergency response jobs and time-sensitive field needs. Travel occasionally to job sites across Texas and Louisiana when service calls arise. Qualifications & Preferred Experience 5+ years of experience working on diesel engines, generators, or heavy equipment Must provide own tools Deep knowledge of industrial power units, pump drives, and fuel systems Proficient with diagnostics tools, schematics, and basic wiring Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work in a fast-paced rapid changing environment Reliable transportation to and from the yard; CDL a plus Water transfer, generator, and air compressor experience preferred
