About the Role We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Diesel Mechanic to provide expert onsite maintenance and repair for a diverse range of heavy-duty fleets. You will leverage your deep technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, and complex electrical systems to minimize downtime and ensure optimal vehicle performance for our clients. Responsibilities Execute advanced diagnostics and repairs on heavy-duty diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and complex electrical architectures including CAN bus and ECM integration. Perform comprehensive engine overhauls and major component rebuilds with a focus on precision and long-term reliability. Utilize sophisticated diagnostic software and technical service manuals to troubleshoot intricate mechanical and electronic failures. Operate mobile service equipment and cranes to facilitate high-level repairs in various field environments. Provide technical mentorship to junior staff, fostering a high-performance culture and sharing industry best practices. Deliver clear, professional communication to clients regarding diagnostic findings and recommended service paths. Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of all maintenance activities to ensure fleet compliance and history tracking. Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance field service efficiency and safety standards. Qualifications Required Skills High school diploma or equivalent. 5-10 years of professional experience in heavy equipment or diesel engine repair. Advanced proficiency in electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical system troubleshooting. Ability to provide a comprehensive set of professional-grade tools. Valid driver's license with the ability to operate company service vehicles. Physical capability to lift 50+ pounds and work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions. Preferred Skills Current ASE Master Diesel Technician status or multiple relevant ASE certifications (T2-T8). Prior experience in a lead technician, shop foreman, or supervisory capacity. Demonstrated expertise in mobile field service operations. Strong project management skills with experience leading onsite repairs.
