Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and experienced Diesel Truck Mechanic with a valid Virginia State Inspection License and clean class A cdl license to join our team at The Truck Shop. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 10 year experience strong background in diesel engine repair, maintenance, and diagnostics, along with expertise in performing state inspections for commercial vehicles. This position requires attention to detail, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to ensuring the safety and reliability of diesel trucks.$5000.00 sign on bonus. Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, air brakes, and electrical components using OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) schematics and automotive diagnostics tools. Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other farm machinery or industrial equipment. Fabricate parts or components as needed using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and soldering techniques to meet specific repair requirements. Replace or repair brake systems, alignments, tires, and perform wheel balancing to ensure safety and optimal operation. Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to identify potential issues early and extend the lifespan of machinery. Operate heavy equipment safely during repairs or testing procedures while adhering to safety protocols. Maintain detailed service records, logs of repairs performed, parts used, and diagnostic findings for each piece of equipment serviced. Qualifications Proven experience working as a Diesel Mechanic or Service Technician with dealership or industrial equipment experience preferred. Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, electrical systems, HVAC systems in heavy machinery. Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting complex issues on Caterpillar or OEM equipment. Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; capable of assembling or repairing components from scratch when necessary. Experience operating heavy machinery such as excavators, cranes, forklifts or similar equipment is highly desirable. Familiarity with automotive repair tools including hand tools and power tools; ability to perform tire service and wheel alignment tasks. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to clients or team members. Ability to lift heavy components safely during repairs; strong attention to detail; commitment to safety standards at all times.
