Job Description

Experienced Gas &/OR Diesel Technician Join a shop where you're valued—not just another number. MPM is a growing, family-owned fleet and automotive repair shop in the Hampton Roads area, and we're looking for an experienced Gas &/or Diesel Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy-duty and light-duty vehicles, including trucks, tractors, trailers, and automotive systems. Your expertise will ensure that all equipment operates safely and efficiently, supporting our customers' operational needs.   • Diagnose and repair gas and diesel vehicles
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections
  • Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining quality workmanship
  • Work alongside a supportive team in a professional environment Duties Perform comprehensive diagnostics on gasoline and diesel engines using schematics, automotive electrical systems, and diagnostic tools to identify issues accurately.
Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, forklifts, tractors, and other industrial machinery. Repair and replace transmissions, suspensions, shocks & struts, brakes, air brakes, hydraulics, and steering components to ensure optimal vehicle performance. Fabricate parts and components as needed using welding, soldering, power tools, and hand tools for custom repairs or modifications. Conduct vehicle inspections including alignment checks, tire service, wheel balancing, and suspension diagnostics to maintain safety standards. Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed; interpret schematics and technical manuals for precise troubleshooting. Assist with heavy lifting tasks and perform welding or fabrication work to repair or assemble equipment efficiently. What We Offer

  • Steady work with a loyal customer base Qualifications Proven experience or extensive background in heavy truck repair or automotive diagnostics.
Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, hydraulics, and suspension components. Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals; ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues. Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and other fabrication techniques. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly to service writer/clients. Valid certifications in diesel mechanics or automotive repair are preferred; ongoing training is encouraged to stay current with industry standards. We're Looking For Someone Who

  • Has a valid driver's license - CDL & State Inspector License is a Plus!
