Job Description

Experienced Diesel Mechanic
  • $5000 hiring bonus Cedar Grove Composting is currently seeking a reliable and experienced Diesel Mechanic to join our outstanding fleet maintenance team. Responsibilities for this position includes, troubleshooting and maintaining a diverse range of equipment
  • trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment.
The work schedule for this position is swing shift, Monday thru Friday, 12:00PM to 8:30PM. Why Cedar Grove? Cedar Grove is a local, family-owned business with deep roots in the Seattle area dating back to 1938. Cedar Grove plays a critical role in the Puget Sound's recycling infrastructure and sustainability efforts, diverting more than 350,000 tons of yard waste and food scraps from landfills annually. With two processing facilities in Maple Valley and Everett, Cedar Grove is a local manufacturer providing green jobs in King and Snohomish Counties. Cedar Grove produces wholesome, nutrient-rich compost that is sold to businesses, governments and residents, ensuring consumers have access to locally produced, recycled products. Medical benefits start on the first of the month following 30 days from your hire date, so our new hires experience a minimal lapse in coverage. Finding the right people to join our team is important to us, so we are offering a $5000 hiring bonus paid out over 24 months Sign on and stay bonus
  • $5000 paid over 24 months $0.42/hr. tool allowance, added to your hourly wage $0.60/hr. swing shift differential pay added to your hourly wage Paid Vacations Sick leave Paid Holidays Health, Dental, Rx, and Vision Insurance Medical insurance at $0 to mechanic and qualified dependents 401(k) plan with up to 4% match

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Perform routine maintenance and repair on trucks/trailers, collection vehicles and off-road machinery Diagnose equipment problems and perform corrective repairs Complete accurate work orders showing labor and materials used to perform each job Remain current with industry standards Maintain cleanliness of shop and work area Personal safety and shop safety Assist in other duties as assigned by the manager Required Skills Diverse mechanical aptitude including diesel, gas truck, and equipment repair Computer skills and welding skills are a plus! Education/Certification Must have a valid driver's license and insurable driving record Experience/Other At least 3 years of diesel mechanic experience is preferred Experience with millwright, truck, or heavy mechanic is ideal Must possess the required tools to perform the applicable job assignment Physical Demands The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift 50 lbs Must be able to stand, stretch, and bend for an 8-hour day Must be able to work in confined spaces.
