Shop Helper Lakeside International Trucks - 3.7 Madison, WI Job Details Full-time $18 - $20 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications Sweeping Diesel engine system repair Vehicle mechanics for truck drivers Safety protocol adherence Diesel mechanics Equipment troubleshooting High school diploma or GED Bus servicing Driver's License Client retention Diesel truck repair Automotive scheduled maintenance Clean workspace maintenance Bus repair Machine minor repairs Entry level Diesel engine diagnostics Time management Full Job Description Description The Diesel Technician Apprentice works alongside experienced diesel technicians to learn the skills and knowledge required to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines and related systems. Additionally, this position prepares the apprentice to attend the Lakeside Diesel Academy, where they will receive advanced training on diesel technology, further enhancing their technical skills and certifications. Responsibilities Perform minor repairs within the designated flat rates. Maintain a 95% or greater efficiency rating Assist Maintenance Manager and clerical staff in completing necessary paperwork Perform preventative maintenance on all equipment as requested by written schedules Perform cleaning duties such as sweeping and taking out trash to keep equipment and facilities sanitary. Develop required skills to be a qualified, certified state inspector Qualifications Mechanical aptitude Must be able to lift up to 75lbs and carry a distance of 5 feet Valid Drivers License High School diploma or equivalent plus special technical training is desired Ability to think critically and find solutions to mechanical issues Eager to acquire new knowledge and skills in the diesel industry Ability to collaborate with technicians and supervisors in a productive and positive manner Being proactive in maintaining a safe work environment and following safety guidelines Candidate presents a high level of attention to work and continually strives to improve quality of performance in self and others Exhibits a complete understanding of how to analyze complex information, identify the causes, and formulate logical solutions Candidate possesses exceptional organizational, multi-tasking, and time management skills Demonstrates a strong desire to seek as much information as possible and is eager to ask questions. Candidate is willing to go above and beyond when unsatisfied with the given information Active desire to develop professional skills and seek out new knowledge to encourage growth in their career Ensuring that the highest value of service is delivered to satisfy customer requests to encourage customer loyalty What You Can Expect as a Diesel Technician As a diesel technician, you will work independently, performing both major and minor repairs. Diagnosing all-makes commercial trucks and buses and completing maintenance work consistent with Lakeside best practices and industry standards. As an expert, you are considered a lead technician and may serve as a mentor for developing diesel technicians at the dealership. Training We train for a lifetime.
