Full Job Description Transit Vehicle Diesel Service Mechanic Where:
Madison, WI Pay Range:
$26•32/hour
Hours:
Monday-Friday, 1st shift. Choose your 8-hour block between 5:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Is This You? Do you have 2+ years of mechanical experience or a recent trade school diploma? Do you hold a valid driver's license and want a CDL—with paid training and testing? Do you bring your own toolbox and basic hand tools to the job? Can you handle preventive maintenance—fluid and filter changes, greasing, and basic inspections? Are you comfortable assisting senior technicians and taking direction on repairs? Do you take pride in safety, attendance, and a positive team attitude? Have you worked around heavy equipment before? That's a plus. What You'll Work On Short buses and Ford vans dedicated to special education routes. Expect a blend of scheduled PMs, basic inspections, light-to-moderate repairs, and occasional electrical troubleshooting—keeping vehicles route-ready and safe.
