In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of heavy equipment, dump trailer, hydrualics and commercial vehicles. Your expertise will ensure optimal performance, safety, and reliability of diesel engines and related systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse machinery, utilize advanced diagnostic tools, and contribute to the seamless operation of our fleet and equipment. Responsibilities Perform comprehensive diagnostics on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension systems, HVAC units, and electrical components using schematics and electronic testing tools. Conduct repairs and maintenance on heavy equipment including lugger trucks, roll-off trucks, tractors, dump trailers, and flatbed trailers. Fabricate parts or components as needed using power tools, welding equipment (steel and aluminum), soldering techniques, and hand tools to meet specific repair requirements. Replace or repair shocks & struts, brakes, tires, shocks & struts, and perform wheel alignments to ensure safety and optimal operation. Maintain detailed service records documenting inspections, repairs, parts used, and diagnostics performed for each vehicle or piece of equipment. Assist with assembly or disassembly of machinery during repairs or upgrades while adhering to safety protocols. Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair status clearly and offering maintenance advice to team members. Requirements Proven experience as a Diesel Technician/Mechanic with dealership or heavy equipment background preferred, master tech type experience level. Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in diesel engine diagnostics and repairs involving transmissions, hydraulics, suspension systems, HVAC systems, aftertreatment systems and electrical troubleshooting. Proficiency in reading schematics and technical manuals for complex machinery such as Cummins equipment or similar brands. Skilled in fabrication techniques including welding and soldering; capable of heavy lifting safely during repairs or installations. Familiarity with heavy equipment operation and FMCSA regulations for CMV tractor-trailers. Ability to use power tools effectively while maintaining safety standards; experience with tire service is a plus. Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a customer-focused attitude; able to communicate technical information clearly. Valid certifications in diesel engine repair, air brake systems, wheel alignment, or related fields are highly desirable.
