Job Description

The Control Journeyman Technician provides support to other technicians and also works independently. They work strictly in Georgia Power substations and panel shops. They must deal with day-to-day issues and find suitable solutions under difficult circumstances. They must have an excellent command of decision-making and problem-solving techniques and are able to apply them appropriately. They must be able to work at various job locations. The Control Journeyman Technician's job includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance for the Company.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations. Provides day-to-day direct support to their crew(s). Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests, exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Schedules projects effectively. Follows up on questions or concerns promptly and effectively. Presents a professional image at all times. Perform other duties assigned by Executive Management Team. Train and instruct. Create open communication channels with their team.
Qualifications:
Installing new equipment in relay control houses. Removing and replacing old equipment in substation control houses. Pulling and Terminating control cables in control houses. Replacing and installing new battery systems in control houses. Installing and terminating Cat V cables and fiber optic cables. Wiring and rewiring equipment in substation yards - breakers, transformers, CCVT's AC & DC distribution panels. Able to work in fast-paced multi-functional changing environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Attentiveness to detail. Possession of strong organizational skills. Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept directions on given assignments. Exceptional time management skills. Able to work flexible hours to complete job tasks at hand. Able to multi-task and manage priorities. Must be honest, assertive, and systematic. Responsible for ensuring that their company vehicle is properly maintained. Must be capable of working in close proximity of energized substation equipment. Must be capable of working in confined space areas.
Education and Experience Required:
AA degree in Construction, and/or Electrical Services or equivalent work experience.
Pay:
$27.00 - $35.00 per hour
