This role is responsible for leading field crews, coordinating testing activities, ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards, and supporting successful project execution. In addition to leadership responsibilities, the Field Technician Team Lead performs advanced electrical testing and serves as a technical resource for field technicians. Essential Functions Provide leadership and guidance to a team of field technicians with varying levels of experience. Coordinate and lead field teams to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to project scope. Facilitate job kick-off, status updates, and closeout discussions with field teams and project leadership. Foster a safety-first, high-performance culture consistent with AMP's values and operational standards. Mentor, coach, and develop technicians to support technical growth and workforce development. Provide constructive feedback and performance guidance to team members. Technical Responsibilities Perform and oversee testing of low, medium, and high voltage electrical equipment including switchgear, circuit breakers, transformers, relays, and cables. Perform power transformer testing, protective relay testing, and medium-voltage cable testing. Troubleshoot electrical equipment issues and determine appropriate corrective actions. Interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation to diagnose system performance issues. Develop and implement testing procedures as required to support project needs. Analyze testing data and prepare accurate reports documenting testing results and maintenance activities. Provide technical expertise and guidance to field technicians during testing and troubleshooting activities. Project & Customer Support Communicate project updates, testing results, and technical findings to Project Managers and Operations leadership. Interact professionally with customers on-site and maintain strong client relationships. Assist with job walks, project planning, and equipment evaluations when needed. Ensure all testing and commissioning activities comply with NETA, NEC, NFPA, OSHA, and company safety requirements. Stay informed on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes related to electrical power systems. Participate in scheduled after-hours or emergency response work when required. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Supervisor Responsibilities Lead and oversee field technician teams. Provide training, mentorship, and technical guidance to technicians at all levels. Support technician development and knowledge growth across the field services team. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Active NETA II Certification Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing electrical testing, commissioning, or maintenance of power distribution systems. Experience working in industrial, commercial, utility, or data center electrical environments. Demonstrated experience leading field crews or supervising technical teams. Strong knowledge of electrical testing procedures and applicable industry standards including NETA, NEC, NFPA, and OSHA. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal teams. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Customer-focused mindset with the ability to collaborate across departments and project teams. Valid driver's license and the ability to maintain an acceptable driving record. Basic computer proficiency including email, internet use, and data entry. Ability to travel locally and regionally, including periodic overnight travel based on project requirements. Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, or emergency service calls as required. Preferred Qualifications NETA Level III or IV certification or the ability to obtain certification. Technical training, trade school certification, or associate degree in electrical technology or related field preferred. Military electrical power training such as Army Prime Power, Air Force Electrical Power Production, Navy Seabee, or similar programs. Employment Requirements Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and participate in periodic, unannounced random drug and alcohol testing in accordance with company policy and customer requirements. Must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check. Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable driving record. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and not require current or future sponsorship. Must be able to read, write, and communicate effectively in English. Must be able to work flexible hours, including overtime, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by operational needs. Must be willing and able to travel, including overnight travel, estimated at approximately 25% or more depending on project requirements. Must be physically capable of performing the duties of the position, including standing, walking, climbing, crawling, and lifting up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
