Elliot Company, Inc. (Elliot). Elliot is a full-service electrical contractor specializing in overhead and underground distribution, transmission, substations, lighting, traffic signaling, utility locating and industrial/commercial services. Job Description We are seeking experienced Substation Journeyman Tech to join our construction team. This position involves hands-on work with high-voltage systems, supporting construction, upgrades, and maintenance projects while ensuring safety, quality, and reliability of critical power infrastructure. As part of the day-to-day responsibilities, you will be completing the following: Install, maintain, and repair substation equipment and systems Assist with construction of new substations and upgrades Interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project plans.

Work on and around:

Structural steel (equipment supports, bus structures) Foundations and grounding systems Conduit, cable trench, and duct bank systems Bus work and rigid/flexible bus installation Equipment setting (transformers, breakers, switches, control cabinets) Follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and energized work protocols Conduct pre-job briefings and adhere to all safety standards Identify and report hazards, defects, or installation issues Work closely with foremen, engineers, and other crew members Qualifications Minimum 3-7+ years of substation construction experience. Journeyman-level experience in electrical construction or utilities Strong knowledge of: Substation equipment and systems Electrical installation practices and safety procedures Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings. Working knowledge of construction safety standards. Ability to operate construction equipment as needed.
