Roles and Responsibilities:
Under the Direction of the
Manager-Electric Power Distribution:
Will be given guidance from a qualified Power Supervisor and be trained in the operation of the Electric Traction (ET) Power System and to understand Power operations in the electrified territories. Must pass all qualifying exams during training Will report to field locations as needed to qualify on operating mechanism of electrical equipment as it relates to switching and tagging requirements within the Hoboken and Newark Divisions; Will monitor power supply required for the movement of trains, will create logs, records, documents, and maintain all reports required for the daily operation of the ET Control Center; Will be responsible for accurately recording all operations associated with switching and tagging, and clearances; Will ensure rules and instructions of the TRO-3 (Electrical Operating Instructions) are adhered to, reporting any non-compliance to the Office of the Manager-Electric Power Distribution. May interface with internal Department's and/or external Agencies to collect information and organize pre-scheduled Power Outages, and other duties assigned by the Manager-Electric Power Distribution.
Knowledge and Skills Required:
Successful applicants must possess Electric Traction Class "A" employee classification or, have a minimum of 5 years railroad experience in a directly related high-voltage electrical background. Applicant must possess a high school diploma or GED. 2 years of experience may be substituted with a Certificate of completion from an Electrical Apprenticeship program or 4 years of experience may be substituted for an Associate of Science Degree towards an electrical technology or closely related engineering field of study. Position is established pursuant to, and subject to, the rules set forth in the ATDA collective bargaining agreement. At
