Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Testing Technician to perform acceptance testing, maintenance testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of electrical power systems and equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience with medium- and high-voltage electrical systems, relay testing, and substation equipment, while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, and customer service. This position supports utility, industrial, commercial, renewable energy, and EPC projects throughout the region. Key Responsibilities Perform testing, inspection, troubleshooting, and commissioning of protective relays, circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, MCCs, batteries, CTs/PTs, grounding systems, and power cables. Conduct acceptance and maintenance testing in accordance with Electrical Testing
ATS/MTS, IEEE, NFPA
70E, and customer specifications. Read and interpret one-line diagrams, schematics, and protection drawings. Operate Doble, Omicron, Megger, and primary injection testing equipment. Perform relay testing and protection scheme verification. Prepare field service reports and testing documentation. Troubleshoot electrical system issues and provide corrective recommendations. Maintain strict safety compliance and support outage schedules and commissioning activities.
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or GED 3-5 years of electrical testing experience Ability to read electrical schematics and drawings Strong troubleshooting and communication skills Valid driver's license and ability to travel
Preferred:
Electrical Testing Level II, III, or IV Certification NICET Certification Journeyman Electrician License Utility or substation testing experience Technical Skills Protective relay testing Substation commissioning Switchgear maintenance Transformer testing Breaker timing and insulation testing SCADA and control systems
SEL, ABB, GE
Multilin relay familiarity Doble and Omicron software platforms Physical & Safety Requirements Ability to work in substations, industrial facilities, and outdoor environments Ability to lift up to 50 pounds Ability to work extended outage hours Compliance with OSHA and
NFPA 70E
