Job Description

Build the Future Power Grid Work on High-Voltage Projects About Our Client Join a leading engineering consulting firm supporting major utility and power delivery projects across the country. Our team partners with top utility providers and energy companies to modernize the electrical grid, expand transmission infrastructure, and support the growing demand for reliable and renewable power. With projects ranging from 12kV distribution substations to 500kV+ transmission facilities, we offer the opportunity to work on impactful infrastructure projects that shape the future of energy. Job Description Develop detailed physical substation design packages for utility projects Support greenfield and brownfield substation projects ranging from 12kV to 500kV+
Prepare:
General arrangement drawings Electrical equipment layouts Elevations and section views Grounding layouts Conduit and cable trench plans Control building layouts Bus and rigid bus drawings Coordinate with engineers, relay/P&C teams, civil teams, and project managers Utilize AutoCAD, MicroStation, Bentley Substation, or similar design platforms Ensure designs comply with: Utility standards

The Successful Applicant A successful Substation Physical Designer (Contract-to-Hire) should have: Associate's degree or technical certification in drafting, design technology, or engineering technology preferred 2+ years of substation physical design experience Experience supporting utility, consulting, or EPC substation projects Proficiency with: AutoCAD MicroStation Understanding of substation equipment and layouts including: Breakers Disconnect switches CTs/PTs Transformers Bus configurations Strong communication and coordination skills What's on Offer Hourly pay range between $60 and $75, depending on qualifications and experience.
