Pharmaceutical Capital Equipment & Laboratory Instrumentation Position Summary The Senior Field Service Engineer (FSE)•Team Leader is a high-impact technical leadership role responsible for supporting pharmaceutical and laboratory equipment customers while guiding and mentoring the Field Service Engineering team across the United States. This position combines advanced hands-on technical expertise with operational leadership, customer relationship management, and team development responsibilities. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues, help drive service excellence, and support the continued growth and performance of the FSE organization. The Team Leader will work closely with Service Management, Sales, OEM partners, and customers to ensure the successful installation, qualification, maintenance, troubleshooting, and lifecycle support of pharmaceutical capital equipment and advanced analytical instrumentation. Key Responsibilities Field Service & Technical Leadership Perform installation, startup, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of pharmaceutical and laboratory capital equipment. Lead advanced troubleshooting involving mechanical, electrical, vacuum, pneumatic, software, and automation systems. Serve as the escalation point for critical customer service cases and high-priority technical issues. Support qualification and validation activities, including
SAT/IQ/OQ/PQ
documentation and execution. Ensure all service activities comply with GMP, GDP, and customer quality standards. Team Leadership & Development Mentor, coach, and support Field Service Engineers across assigned territories. Assist onboarding and technical development of new team members. Coordinate technical training with OEM manufacturers and internal leadership. Promote best practices, accountability, safety, and service excellence. Conduct operational reviews and performance discussions. Operational & Business Support Support service management with scheduling, resource planning, and field coordination. Monitor and improve service KPIs including response time, closure rates, and customer satisfaction. Generate service reports and operational performance metrics. Assist with tools, calibration equipment, and service inventory management. Collaborate with internal teams to improve service processes. Customer Relationship Management Build and maintain strong relationships with pharmaceutical, biotech, and laboratory customers. Provide customer training and technical consultation. Support sales opportunities through service leads and upgrades. Maintain a customer-focused approach in all field interactions. Administrative Responsibilities Ensure accurate documentation of service activities in CRM systems. Complete service reports in a timely manner. Manage travel schedules and field activities. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent technical experience. 5+ years of field service experience in pharma, biotech, or laboratory equipment. Leadership or mentoring experience in field service. Strong electromechanical troubleshooting skills. Experience with
IQ/OQ/PQ
validation. Knowledge of GMP environments. Strong communication and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CRM systems. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel 25-30%. Preferred Qualifications Experience with advanced analytical or pharmaceutical equipment. Knowledge of automation or diagnostic software tools. Previous Team Lead or Senior FSE experience. Salesforce or FSM platform experience.
