Job Title:
Field Service Engineer - Wet Etch Semiconductor Equipment Job Description The Field Service Engineer will focus on the installation, maintenance, optimization, and development of wet etching equipment used in semiconductor manufacturing. With a strong emphasis on safety and quality, this role supports the production of high‑quality semiconductor components by ensuring that wet etch tools operate reliably, efficiently, and at peak performance. The engineer will work hands-on in a clean room environment, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot complex equipment issues, implement process improvements, and drive higher yield and equipment availability. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys in-depth technical work, values collaboration, and is eager to engage with advanced technologies including AI, automation, and data analysis. Responsibilities Install, maintain, and optimize wet etch equipment to support high-quality semiconductor manufacturing. Perform advanced troubleshooting on wet etch tools, including TEL wet tool platforms such as the FC3x00 series and single-wafer systems like the SS3x00, to resolve equipment and process issues. Interpret and work from electrical, mechanical, and electronic schematics to diagnose and correct equipment malfunctions. Monitor equipment performance, identify performance gaps, and implement strategic hardware and process improvements to enhance tool functionality and availability. Conduct and support preventative maintenance activities on manufacturing equipment, ensuring timely completion and clear communication of maintenance needs to team members. Document hardware and process deviations thoroughly to prevent recurring issues and improve long-term tool reliability. Collaborate with cross-functional and multi-disciplinary teams to address equipment problems, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and support overall manufacturing goals. Participate in teams focused on increasing equipment availability and implementing improvement projects that enhance efficiency and yield. Incorporate AI, coding, automation, and data analysis into daily work to optimize equipment performance and streamline troubleshooting and maintenance activities. Proactively identify and resolve safety concerns related to equipment operation and maintenance, maintaining a strong focus on a safe working environment. Communicate clearly and effectively with team members, sharing insights, updates, and recommendations related to equipment status, process changes, and improvement opportunities. Essential Skills 10+ years of experience working with semiconductor equipment, with consideration for candidates with at least 8 years of relevant experience. Hands-on experience with wet etch semiconductor processing equipment, including TEL wet tools such as the FC3x00 series and single-wafer platforms like the SS3x00. Strong troubleshooting skills for complex semiconductor manufacturing tools and processes. Experience in semiconductor processing or semiconductor manufacturing environments. Ability to read, interpret, and apply electrical, mechanical, and electronic schematics during diagnostics and repair. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within multi-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing setting. Ability to communicate clearly about preventative maintenance needs, equipment performance issues, and safety concerns. Proven track record of identifying equipment performance gaps and implementing strategic improvements to enhance tool availability and yield. Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in all aspects of equipment support. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience incorporating AI, coding, automation, and data analysis into daily engineering or maintenance tasks. Comfort working with cutting-edge semiconductor manufacturing technologies and advanced automation systems. Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to tackle real-world manufacturing challenges and drive meaningful process changes. Interest in ongoing training, mentorship, and continuous skill development in a rapidly evolving semiconductor industry. Ability to work effectively in a structured, clean room environment with clearly defined procedures and standards. Work Environment The role is based in a semiconductor clean room environment designed for safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency. You will work directly with advanced wet etch tools, including TEL wet tool platforms and single-wafer systems, as well as other semiconductor manufacturing equipment that leverages AI, automation, and data analysis. The position follows a compressed shift schedule with 12-hour shifts.
Available schedules include:
(1) Sunday to Tuesday, plus every other Wednesday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. (Front Half); (2) Tuesday to Saturday, plus every other Wednesday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.; (3) Sunday to Tuesday, plus every other Wednesday, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.; and (4) Tuesday to Saturday, plus every other Wednesday, from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. You will work as part of supportive, cross-functional teams in a culture that emphasizes innovation, safety, quality, and continuous improvement, with access to modern tools, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional growth. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Manassas, VA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
