Emeryville, CA Description:
The Field Service Technician I is an entry-level position responsible for installing, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining lighting control systems. The technician supports projects from startup through customer training and helps ensure systems operate as designed. This role involves working with lighting control hardware and software, supporting customers on-site, and completing service documentation. Duties & Responsibilities (I):
  • Maintains and drives agency relationships by providing high quality service that meets or exceeds our customer's expectations to drive revenue
  • Troubleshoots and approves operational quality of system equipment
  • To repair and maintain customer equipment effectively and efficiently
  • Provides support across the entire Acuity Brands product offerings
  • Instructs and trains customers in the operation and maintenance of the lighting controls system
  • Serves as company liaison with customers on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects
  • The ability to deal effectively with customers amidst challenging environments
  • Ability to establish and maintain customer relationships
  • Strong customer service attitude with critical thinking mindset
  • Willingness to travel daily within the assigned territory
  • Eager to learn daily
  • Repair and maintain customer equipment effectively and efficiently
  • Documentation that is accurate, professional and meets all required timelines
  • Provide equipment training as required to customers and internally when needed
Qualifications:
  • Requires a high school/G.E.D. degree or higher or equivalent experience.
  • Exposure to Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe/BlueBeam, Microsoft Teams, Google Sheets/docs, aptitude for CRM Platforms.
  • Electrical background
  • Must be able to speak and write professionally. Communication skills with customers, design clients and co-workers are a necessity
  • Strong ability to maintain high-level focus while multi-tasking in fast-paced and at times, stressful environments
  • Level 100 Acuity Lighting Controls via Acuity Academy online portal
Key Qualities:
  • Exposure to electrical systems and circuits
  • Exposure to electrical instruments and tools such as, LAN tester and digital multimeter
  • Go-getter - Ready to learn
  • Detail oriented with all facets of the role, especially when it comes to documentation
  • Team oriented with a strong ability to successfully collaborate with peers
  • Service background/Aptitude
  • Computer Savvy
  • Long term employment committed
  • Experience with lighting controls is a plus
