Job Title:
Field Service Technician Job Description We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Field Service Technician to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain compressor systems, including mechanical, plumbing, and high-voltage electrical components. This role involves installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and programming PLC-based control systems associated with packaged boiler equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience interpreting mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation to complete installations and repairs, and will ensure all work is in compliance with applicable mechanical codes. Responsibilities Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain compressor systems including mechanical, plumbing, and high-voltage electrical components. Install, troubleshoot, repair, and program PLC-based control systems for packaged boiler equipment. Interpret and work from mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation. Replace and repair plumbing and mechanical parts related to air compressor systems according to mechanical codes. Use field service software on a company laptop to document work orders with detailed notes, parts used, and work performed. Maintain accurate job documentation, reports, and service records for each customer visit. Communicate professionally with customers to understand issues, explain findings, and recommend corrective actions or maintenance plans. Operate and care for company-provided vehicle, laptop, cell phone, and credit card according to company policies. Use personal hand tools and test equipment safely and effectively during field service work. Participate in an on-call rotation, typically one weekend per month, to respond to urgent service needs. Collaborate with internal teams to resolve complex technical issues and support customer satisfaction. Work independently in the field as a self-starter, managing time, travel, and job priorities to meet expectations. Essential Skills 3+ years of experience in troubleshooting and repairing compressor systems. Experience with diesel engines, including Cummins, Caterpillar, and Mercedes. Proficiency in electrical systems with voltage ranges from 480 (low voltage) to medium voltage. Field service experience with strong customer-facing skills. Familiarity with HVAC systems is a plus. Experience in electrical maintenance and preventive maintenance. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with rental equipment and field service tech roles. Customer service-oriented approach.
