Job Summary The Lead Equipment Technician is a critical field leadership position responsible for delivering exceptional technical service while supporting the development and success of the service team. This role combines advanced troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and repair expertise with leadership responsibilities, ensuring customers receive a premium service experience. Success in this position requires strong mechanical aptitude, excellent customer service skills, and the ability to lead by example while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and professionalism. Essential Job ResponsibilitiesTechnical Service & Equipment Support Perform installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of bottleless water systems, water softeners, ice machines, coffee equipment, and related products. Diagnose and resolve complex mechanical, plumbing, and equipment issues independently and efficiently. Lead complex service assignments and ensure all work is completed accurately and in a timely manner. Maintain a high standard of workmanship while following company procedures and manufacturer specifications. Team Leadership & Development Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and support to Service Technicians. Assist the Service Manager in establishing and achieving service department goals and performance expectations. Review work quality and provide constructive feedback to support team growth and development. Serve as a role model for professionalism, safety, and customer service excellence. Customer Experience & Relationship Management Interact professionally with customers to address concerns, answer questions, and provide solutions. Serve as a trusted advisor by recommending products, services, and equipment improvements when appropriate. Build and maintain strong customer relationships that support customer retention, referrals, and long-term satisfaction. Represent the company with professionalism and a customer-first mindset at all times. Operational Support & Inventory Management Communicate effectively with management, dispatch, and team members to coordinate service activities. Maintain accurate inventory records and follow company procedures for tools, equipment, and parts management. Ensure all service activities comply with company safety standards and operating procedures. Support operational efficiency by identifying opportunities for process improvements and service enhancements. Team Support & Continuous Improvement Support team initiatives and assist in achieving departmental and company goals. Share knowledge and best practices with fellow technicians and team members. Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned. Administrative & Reporting Responsibilities Complete all required service documentation accurately and on time using both digital and paper-based systems. Report equipment trends, recurring service issues, and opportunities for operational improvements. Contribute to the ongoing development of service procedures, training materials, and best practices.
Required Skills & Abilities Technical Expertise:
Strong mechanical aptitude with advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving capabilities.

Ability to mentor team members, provide direction, and lead by example in a fast-paced service environment.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to delivering outstanding customer service.

Tool Proficiency:
Skilled in the safe and effective use of hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
Reliability:
Dependable, punctual, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision. Education & Experience High school diploma, GED, or trade/business school education required. Previous experience servicing water treatment equipment, water coolers, coffee machines, plumbing systems, or related equipment strongly preferred. Prior leadership or mentoring experience preferred. Experience with water softeners, coffee machines, plumbing, or water coolers is highly preferred.
EPA HVAC
Certification is preferred but not required. Physical Requirements Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 pounds. Regularly required to kneel, crouch, bend, climb, and work in various indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to operate company vehicles and maintain a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
