Job Description

Field Service Technician - Utility Field Operations (Michigan) Lansing, MI 48912 Full-Time | Contract | Travel & Overnights Required $18.00/hr Looking for a hands-on career with growth potential? Entech Staffing Solutions is seeking candidates to join a field operations team responsible for inspecting, maintaining, and restoring utility poles that support America's power grid. This is physically demanding outdoor work with extensive travel, competitive pay, and a clear path to advancement. What You'll Do Work safely using required PPE and established safety procedures. Carry tools, equipment, and supplies to job sites. Excavate and backfill around utility poles. Apply preservatives and protective coatings to structures. Assist with installing reinforcement systems on deteriorated poles. Capture accurate field data using digital tools and mobile technology. Help maintain equipment, vehicles, and inventory. Operate company vehicles and UTVs when qualified. Meet daily production and quality goals, with bonus opportunities for exceeding weekly quotas. Work closely with crew leaders and support team operations. What We're Looking For Strong work ethic and dependable attendance. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions. Willingness to perform physically demanding work and work extended hours when needed. Positive attitude and desire to learn a skilled trade. Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team. Leadership potential and interest in career growth. Qualifications No previous experience required — training provided. Experience in utilities, construction, vegetation management, pole inspection, or skilled trades is a plus. Valid driver's license required. Must be able to qualify to operate company vehicles (no DUI/DWI convictions within the last five years; reduced to two years with proof of a state-certified rehabilitation program and no additional moving violations during that time). Must pass a pre-employment drug screen. Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Ability to regularly lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Comfortable working in heat, cold, rain, humidity, and uneven terrain. Exposure to insects, allergens, poisonous plants, chemicals, and moderate to loud noise levels. Must be able to safely work around energized electrical equipment. Travel Requirements Travel is 95%+ and is a major part of this role. Overnight travel is required, typically 1-3 weeks at a time. Monday-Saturday schedules are common, with weekends as needed. Extended workweeks may occur during busy periods. Lodging is provided. Weekly production bonuses offer additional earning potential.
