$25-$35/hour This full-time opportunity offers paid time off, paid holidays, a company vehicle, and consistent daytime hours typically scheduled Monday through Friday from 7:30am-4:30pm with minimal overtime expected. We are hiring for one of our trusted clients seeking a hands-on Multi-Craft Field Service Technician to support federal customer sites with maintenance and repair of vehicle barrier systems and perimeter security equipment. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical aptitude, integrity, customer service skills, and the ability to troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical systems in the field. Candidates must live in either the Kansas City or St. Louis area and be comfortable with regional travel as needed. A clean driving record and the ability to pass state and federal background checks and drug screening are required due to access to federal facilities. Position Overview The Field Service Technician II - Barrier & Security Systems is responsible for performing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of vehicle barrier systems and perimeter/electronic security equipment at customer sites. This role requires a multi-craft technician with strong mechanical aptitude, working knowledge of hydraulic systems, and the ability to perform basic electrical and controls troubleshooting. The technician will support both scheduled maintenance and on-demand service calls while delivering a high level of customer service and maintaining accurate service documentation. Key Responsibilities Perform preventive maintenance and routine service on vehicle barrier systems and security equipment Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and basic electrical/control system issues Repair or replace defective components including hydraulic systems, motors, wiring, and mechanical assemblies Respond to and resolve service calls in a timely and professional manner Use prints, drawings, manuals, and electrical schematics to complete maintenance and repairs De-energize, disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment as needed Operate hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic/testing equipment Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions Accurately document service activity, parts usage, and recommendations in company systems Communicate professionally with customers on-site while providing updates and maintaining strong customer relationships Order and install replacement parts as needed Ensure proper wiring methods based on environmental conditions Follow all safety procedures including PPE and OSHA standards Complete required training including OSHA, CPR, and First Aid Cross-train and support additional service and installation activities as needed Required Qualifications 3-5 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, industrial maintenance, or automotive repair Experience with multi-craft troubleshooting including mechanical and basic electrical systems Working knowledge of hydraulic systems strongly preferred Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals Strong problem-solving skills and hands-on technical mindset Strong integrity, accountability, and attention to detail Excellent customer service and communication skills Strong organizational and documentation abilities Ability to work independently and manage time effectively Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work environments Basic computer skills and willingness to learn service software Ability to pass state and federal background checks, drug screening, and maintain a clean driving record Preferred Qualifications Experience with vehicle barrier systems or security/access control equipment Basic networking knowledge including Ethernet, fiber vs. copper, switches, and media converters Previous field service or customer-facing technician experience Physical & Work Requirements Ability to lift and carry up to 100 lbs Ability to stand, walk, and work in the field for extended periods Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and navigate active job sites Occasional travel required Reliance One, Inc. is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
