Are you a master of the drain cleaning trade who takes pride in teaching others and maintaining high standards? We are a premier residential and commercial service company in the Greater St. Louis market looking for an experienced leader to elevate our drain division. As a Senior Drain Technician & Field Trainer , you will split your time between performing high-level drain diagnostic/rehabilitation work and mentoring a team of technicians. This critical role requires someone who possesses elite technical expertise in clearing and restoring drain lines, combined with the patience, operational discipline, and leadership skills necessary to train others. You will ensure our field team executes jobs safely, leaves sites immaculate, and provides top-tier customer service on every dispatch.

$115,000 / year (Total package: Base Salary + Performance Incentives + Full Benefits)
Schedule:
Day shift, Monday to Friday (Occasional standard field flexibility required for residential/commercial timelines)
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Technical Instruction & Training:
Direct, train, and mentor junior and fellow drain technicians on advanced field techniques, ensuring the whole team remains up-to-date on modern industry methodologies.
Advanced Drain Cleaning & Cabling:
Expertly operate various mainline, sink, and closet drum/sectional cable machines to clear obstructions across all types of commercial and residential drains.
Jetting & Mechanical Descaling:
Lead and train the team on safe hydro-jetting practices and structural pipe cleaning via advanced chain-knocking/descaling systems.
Diagnostics & Locating:
Execute and train others in high-resolution push camera inspections, precise digital utility locating, and line mapping.
Smoke Testing:
Perform and instruct technicians on sewer smoke testing procedures to accurately pinpoint structural defects, sewer odor sources, and leaks.
Quality Control & Auditing:
Regularly evaluate technician work quality. Conduct spot-checks on jobsites to verify strict adherence to company standards, vehicle cleanliness, and inventory organization.
Inventory & Tool Management:
Oversee company tool distribution and accountability. Maintain exact inventory control on service trucks to minimize down-time and tool loss.
Safety Leadership:
Enforce total compliance with safety protocols, specifically emphasizing ladder safety, fall protection, proper PPE usage, and mechanical equipment safeguards.
Customer & Team Relations:
Model exceptional customer interaction skills. Address escalated customer concerns with professionalism, and maintain a positive, unified team environment.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Experience:
Minimum 3+ years of comprehensive drain cleaning experience in both residential and commercial sectors. Prior experience in a training, lead tech, or supervisory capacity is highly valued.
Equipment Mastery:
Verified proficiency with hydro-jetters, mechanical descalers (e.g., Picote/FlexShaft/etc), camera inspection rigs, and heavy-duty cabling machinery.
Safety & Compliance:
Clean safety track record. Strong command of residential/commercial jobsite safety standards.
Screening:
Must pass a mandatory, comprehensive criminal background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) review; a clean record is required.
Physical Demands:
Robust physical stamina; ability to safely lift and maneuver up to 50 lbs regularly, climb ladders, and work comfortably in tight crawling spaces or roofs.
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a proven knack for explaining technical mechanical tasks to apprentices and customers alike.
