Job Description

JOB OVERVIEW
The GPS Field Technician supports the GPS Specialist and Excavation Team by operating and maintaining Trimble GPS equipment on site to improve efficiency, productivity, and quantity calculations. This role also includes general labor and light equipment operation in the field as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and calibrate Trimble GPS equipment (base stations, machines, rovers)
  • Perform site layout, staking, grade checking, and high-precision data collection
  • Document as-builts, calculate quantities, and transfer field data to the GPS Specialist
  • Communicate daily with the GPS Manager and collaborate with the Project Management Team
  • Assist with bucket measure-ups, inventory GPS supplies, and perform regular updates
  • Perform general labor tasks including site prep, material handling, and equipment assistance

  • Ability to read and interpret job plans and specs
  • Strong organization, time management, and follow-through

  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Dependable, professional, and responsive to direction
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to take initiative and learn new skills
  • Physical ability to navigate entire job sites, including elevated structures
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Degree or an Associate Degree.
  • Experience with GPS units or willingness to learn skills to operate GPS units.
  • No construction or excavation experience necessary.
  • A valid driver's license and US Citizenship.
